Emotional Law
Why is it we get punshied by law for hurting someone physically, but not mentally?
I've had this debate in my head before, because I think it's seriously wrong for someone to hurt someone else emotionally. But the debate was re-sparked in my head when I saw a group on Facebook called "to boy's who are thinking about cheating on girls - remember this picture"
But what irked me was some of the comments left. One such comment read "people should be jailed for doing that"... well, to be honest, people should be jailed for cheating!!
Obviously, being a gamer, the sight of that poor Xbox brings a tear to eye (lol), but the point is, yeah, people do get in trouble for stuff like that - less even. But people don't get in trouble, law-wise, for stuff like cheating.
I'd see it could possibly be more difficult to prove mental harm, but it can be done. And when you think about it, hurting someone emotionally can really f*ck up their life and massively effect their future. So why aren't there better laws regarding this?

Re: Emotional Law
Actually theres a whole section of tort law on this, both Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress (IIED) and Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress (NIED). From a quick quizzing of the lawyer housemate, these are actually pretty serious allegations, and its a lot easier for a jury to sympathise over this kind of thing than trying to prove that when you acted, say, in self-defence over a robber in your house, that you didnt overstep some legal boundary. (The more you know! *fwoosh!*)
Also, that picture makes me glad that a) i never ever ever would cheat and b) i have a supply of xboxes xD
